Limit modifications: Don't enhance the car in your first year of driving as you may be hit with charges. Increasing the engine's power for example means you are more likely to speed in the eyes of an insurer.

Vehicle choice: Teenagers should think about their first car carefully. They should pick a vehicle that appears in a low insurance group and that has a small engine - the more conventional the choice, the better.
